"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Gratitude is the healthiest of human emotions. A man who finds himself in the life-giving springs of gratitude experiences the joy of Christ found there in the comforting waters. Peaceful waters. Whole waters. Instead of looking upon himself with a needy and self-seeking heart, he finds fulfillment and completion. He looks outward in thanks. Abundance lies within because he dwells within the springs of gratitude. Gratitude is selfless, looking to others with a thankful heart. A heart of gratitude unchains the needy beast from your soul. It frees you. Listen to the counsel of the Creator. He formed you. He knows your most profound needs. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God.” Gratitude turns ordinary days into thanksgivings.. bothersome duties into blessings. However, one mustn’t seek the springs for selfish gain. If he chooses that path, he will only find swamps. He will decay. Because you must remember, gratitude is selfless. -Tim

Another Perspective

Its kind of crazy to try and think from someone else's perspective. As I sit in a quaint cafe in Bedford Virginia, I am surrounded by all types of people. Different ages, ethnicities, styles and backgrounds; but they are all similar in one way - all made in the image of their Creator.

It's so easy for me to get stuck in a self-centered mindset, only able to see the world from my own perspective. But the reality is, there are billions of people on this earth and they all have their own perspective as well.

What would it be like if I attempted to see the world from the perspective of others every now and then? Would it change the way I act? Would I be more intentional with what I say? Would my relationships with people actually grow? I think yes. But what is the best way for us to put ourselves in other people's shoes? Seek to know the One who created them!

The more we learn to know and love our Creator, the more we will be able to know and love those created in His image. I'm challenging myself with this today, I hope you do the same.

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39

He Is With You

"...For He has said, 'I will never leave you, nor forsake you.' So we can confidently say,

'The Lord is my Helper, I will not fear, what can man do to me?'"

God, the Creator of the universe, the One who has made all things in heaven and earth, the One who intricately knit every human together in their mothers womb, makes the promise to His people that He will be with them. This is the same promise that He has made to His people throughout all of redemptive history. You see, the Creator is infinitely greater than the creation. So if God (The Creator) says to His people (the creation) "I will be with you always, in all things", then this should produce fearlessness in them. A confidence that goes beyond anything they could muster up on their own; a confidence that is founded in the One who created them.

This is what God has promised to you, child of God: He is with you. What more do you need? Allow His perfect love to drown any fears that you might have and press on... knowing that He is a steadfast anchor for your soul and that He promises you something so much greater than anything this world could offer you- His presence- Where there is fulness of joy, forever.
